DAVAO CITY – The Land Transportation Office in Davao Region (LTO-11) will offer a free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) to select student permit applicants within the month, an official said Monday.

Director Eleanor Calderon said the agency will provide the free courses to one million applicants nationwide in celebration of Road Safety Month.

The TDC is a 15-hour seminar requirement when applying for a student-driver's permit.

“We will go to the barangays throughout Davao Region and identify our recipients or beneficiaries there,” Calderon said in an interview.

Calderon said they continue to hold road safety education and information campaigns targeting students, in partnership with the Department of Education.

LTO is likewise conducting studies on adding more extension offices within the city and the region.

The LTO’s 112 founding anniversary activities in April carried the theme “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Drayber at Behiculo dapat M.O.D.E.L.O. (Moderno, Organisado, Disiplinado, Eco-friendly, Ligtas at Operational or Modern, Organized, Disciplined, Eco-friendly, Safe and Operational).” (PNA)
