“We have 30 medical personnel from the groups of volunteers who facilitate the surgical mission, where over 100 minor operations and over 45 major operations are expected to (be conducted),” Governor Reynante Tolentino said in an interview on Thursday.

Lending support to the activity are the provincial government of Aurora, the Department of Health (DOH), Provincial Health Office, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. "The province is continually doing its best to serve the people of Aurora specially those indigent patients in need of surgical interventions," Tolentino said as he thanked all the benefactors, including Senator Sonny Angara, and Aurora Rep. Rommel Rico Angara.

The major surgeries being conducted include cholecystectomy (to remove the gallbladder), herniorrhaphy (hernia repair) and thyroidectomy (removal of all or part of the thyroid gland), while the minor surgeries include excisions of skin tag and cyst.

Tolentino said quality healthcare services have been a priority of his administration, and he is thankful that their partner humanitarian organizations share the same vision as the province.

“All of them contributed to the success of the mission. We are planning to hold more surgical missions in the future, including those that cater to other municipalities,” he said. (PNA)
