Warm weather continues across PH; dangerous heat index in 38 areas

MANILA – The easterlies will continue to bring warm weather with possible isolated rains or thunderstorms in most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Saturday.

However, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be felt over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands due to the shear line affecting extreme Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The whole archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA warned of dangerous heat index levels in 38 areas, with the highest at 45°C expected in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Aparri, Cagayan; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.

The following areas may experience a dangerous heat index ranging from 42°C to 44°C:

ISU Echague, Isabela – 42°C

Baler (Radar), Aurora – 43°C
Casiguran, Aurora – 42°C
Cubi Point, Subic, Zambales – 42°C
Sangley Point, Cavite – 42°C
Ambulong. Tanauan, Batangas – 43°C
Infanta, Quezon – 42°C
Alabat, Quezon – 43°C
Mulanay, Quezon – 42°C
San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – 44°C
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 43°C
Aborlan, Palawan – 42°C
Cuyo, Palawan – 44°C

PAGASA advised the public to limit the time spent outdoors, especially at noon, and drink plenty of water.
