MANILA – Consumers on Thursday came in droves to buy affordable agri-fishery products as the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) reopened its Kadiwa site at Brgy. 692 multipurpose hall in San Andres, Malate.

In a Facebook post, the DA-BPI showed a long line of consumers purchasing cheap fruits, vegetables, rice, eggs, and fish, among others.

The cheap agri-fishery products include bangus at PHP150 per kilo/kg, and tilapia at PHP100/kg, lower than the highest prevailing prices monitored in Metro Manila on the same day which were equivalent to PHP240/kg and PHP160/kg, respectively.

White onions are sold at PHP80/kg, red onions at PHP90/kg, and garlic at PHP135/kg. Prices of these products are even lower with a minimum wholesale purchase of 10 kg.

Medium eggs are sold at PHP205 per tray, and PHP235 per tray of extra-large eggs.

The DA-BPI will resume its operations on Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., or until supplies last.

Meanwhile, the DA reported that it has sold out its supply of PHP29 per kg. of rice in its Kadiwa store in Quezon City, with a five kg. purchase limit per buyer.

The rice supply came from the department's partnership with the National Food Authority (NFA) and the irrigators' association.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) also offered affordable goods at the C-Cube Caloocan City Hall South.

On Friday, the KNP will also operate Kadiwa stores to benefit more consumers in Caloocan at Covered Court Brgy. 12, and Galino Covered Court in Brgy. 102. Store hours will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (PNA)
