MANILA – Most parts of the country will get dampened with rain showers due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) affecting western Luzon and the easterlies, the weather bureau said Monday.
In its 4 a.m. weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said habagat will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan while scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies will prevail over Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region.
Those areas are likely to experience moderate to heavy rains that may result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA said.
PAGASA, meanwhile, said habagat will also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.
Isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the archipelago.
The whole country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate winds.
PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said they are expecting habagat will continue causing rains over the next few days. Thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon or evening.
He also said no tropical cyclone was seen to affect the country and that there is a slim chance for a tropical cyclone to develop or enter the country this week. (PNA)
