WASHINGTON – Two people died while 10 others were wounded during a mass shooting at a grocery's parking lot in Fordyce, Arkansas on Friday morning.

The shooter, who has not been publicly identified, was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire with police, according to multiple media reports.

One officer was also wounded, but his wounds were not life-threatening, reports added.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but bystander footage posted on social media appears to show the gunman repeatedly firing a shotgun in a parking lot outside the Mad Butcher grocery store.

At least one body can be seen lying on the asphalt as shots ring out in a separate video.

The Arkansas State Police did not respond to requests for comment.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she has been briefed "on the tragic shooting in Fordyce" and is in "constant contact" with police.

"I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this horrific incident," she said on X. (Anadolu)
