Caraga police seizes over P42-M illegal drugs in H1

BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) reported the confiscation of over PHP42 million worth of illegal drugs from January to June this year.

The illegal drugs seized include some 3,889 grams of shabu, 79.375 grams of marijuana, and 2,750 grams of cocaine.

During the period, 583 drug suspects, 190 of whom were categorized as high-value individuals, were also arrested by authorities.

“These achievements highlight the collective efforts of the PRO-13, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies and the people, in the mission to eradicate the illegal drug trade in the region,” Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro, director of PRO-13, said in a statement on Thursday.

Data from PRO-13 also indicated that the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) garnered the highest number of illegal drug confiscations, worth PHP12.8 million.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit also seized PHP11.9 million worth of prohibited drugs, while the Surigao del Norte PPO had PHP9.5 million worth of illicit drugs recovered.

In addition, the Butuan City Police Office also confiscated PHP5.5 million worth of drugs, Agusan del Norte PPO (PHP1.3 million), Agusan del Sur PPO (PHP1.1 million), Dinagat Island PPO (PHP32,546) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-13 (PHP3,400). (PNA)
