MANILA – Former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) chief Col. Hansel Marantan has been designated as the acting director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
Marantan's designation is pursuant to an order dated July 10 signed by Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia, head of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), which was made public Thursday.
Hernia said the designation is in compliance with the PNP chief's power "to direct and control tactic as well as strategic movements, deployment, placements, utilization of the PNP or any unit of its personnel" under Republic Act 6975 or the Department of the Interior and Local Government of Act of 1990.
Marantan replaced Col. Sherwin Butil, who earlier replaced Col. Lito Patay as acting DCPO chief on Wednesday.
On Monday, Patay replaced DCPO chief Col. Rolindo Suguilon, who was relieved from his post along with 19 station commanders as ordered by Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
Torre earlier noted that “severe discrepancies” in crime statistics and inadequate police response time was among the reasons for the mass relief of police commanders in the city.
Meanwhile, two ranking police officials switched posts effective Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Rogelio Simon, director of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) was designated as Executive Officer of Area Police Command (APC) in Visayas, replacing Brig. Gen. William Segun.
Segun, meanwhile, took over Simon's post as PSPG chief. (PNA)
