2 nabbed, P13.6-M shabu seized in Manila drug sting

MANILA – Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested two drug suspects and seized over PHP13.6 million worth of shabu in a sting operation in Manila early Tuesday.

In a report, NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the suspects Anthony Reyes, 42, and Lovely Joy Gonzales, 38, were nabbed in a buy-bust inside a budget hotel along P. Campa St., Barangay 462 in the city's Sampaloc district at about 2:35 a.m.

The suspects yielded 2.2 kg. of shabu in two big tea bags and five transparent plastic sachets.

Nartatez said the suspects were brought to the Barbosa Police Station (PS-14) and would face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

2 high-value targets fall in Tacloban buy-bust

Meanwhile, members of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) nabbed two high-value drug suspects in a buy-bust operation in Tacloban City, Leyte at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, in a report, said arrested were Sherwin Zeta, 46, who is on the priority target list of the PDEG and the Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 (Eastern Visayas), and June Noe Ballais, 48, listed as a high-value individual by the PRO 8.

Confiscated from the suspects were some 80 grams of shabu worth PHP544,000, as well as non-drug evidence.

The suspects were brought to Police Station 2 Tacloban City Police Office for custody documentation and proper disposition while the drug evidence was turned over to the PNP Forensic Group in Palo town for examination. (PNA)
