CEBU CITY – Five drug peddlers yielded a total of PHP4.8 million worth of shabu in three separate sting operations in Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Oriental, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas said Thursday.

Authorities seized from 20-year-old baker, Rex Navasca, 12 packs of suspected shabu weighing around half a kilo worth PHP3.4 million in a sting operation Wednesday at Sitio Bangan, Kabankalan, Mandaue City.

The police also recovered from the suspect a motorcycle, cellular phone, and non-drug paraphernalia.

In Boloc-boloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, agents of the PDEA-Negros Oriental Provincial Office conducted the operation together with the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Intelligence Unit and shut down an alleged drug den.

Arrested during the clearing operation Tuesday were three suspects, including the subject of the operation John Renz Duran, 23, an alleged maintainer of the drug den.

The agents also arrested alleged visitors, Lucito Lañojan, 45, a telecommunication cable installer and Mateo Pascual, 42, jobless.

Confiscated in the operation were eight packs of suspected shabu weighing around six grams during the operation with an estimated average market value of PHP40,800.

In Tagbilaran City, Bohol, a construction worker was nabbed after he yielded nine packs of suspected shabu worth PHP1.3 million during a sting operation Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect was identified as Macrino Clarete IV, 33, a resident of Tagbilaran City.

Authorities will file drug charges against the five suspects on Thursday. (PNA)
