MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday summoned the owners of a passenger bus and a modern jeepney involved in a road rage ramming incident in España Boulevard, Manila.

In two separate show cause orders issued by LTO-National Capital Region Director Roque Verzosa III dated July 22, the registered owners of the modern jeepney and the passenger bus were ordered to explain in writing why they should not be held liable.

Both owners were ordered to appear before the LTO-NCR office in Quezon City on Aug. 7.

They face violations of Sections 27, 48 and 54 (reckless driving) under Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code and for disregarding traffic signs.

In a statement, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II ordered the NCR office to identify the drivers involved.

“What they did is unacceptable and their bad temper that put the lives of fellow motorists and commuters at risk should not go unpunished,” Mendoza said.

In the video that went viral on social media, the drivers of a passenger bus and modern jeepney were seen arguing and blocking España Boulevard.

When both vehicles began moving, the bus swerved and blocked the lane of the modern jeepney.

After returning to its lane, the bus swerved and blocked the modern jeepney again, seemingly resulting in a minor collision.

The bus began moving forward but the modern jeepney retaliated, resulting in another near collision. (PNA)
