MANILA – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has approved an extension of the submission, filing, and payment of several dues in areas affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

In a statement on Friday, BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said the deadline was moved from July 25 to July 31, in recognition of the hardships suffered by taxpayers during the recent calamity.

These dues include the submission of the quarterly summary list of sales/purchases/importations by a Value-Added Tax (VAT) registered taxpayer-non-Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPSs) filers, and the sworn statement of manufacturer's or importer's volume of sales of each particular brand of alcohol, tobacco, and sweetened beverage for the quarter ending June 30.

The BIR said the deadline for the e-filing, filing, and e-payment of BIR Form 2550Q or the Quarterly VAT return and BIR Form 2551Q or the Quarterly Percentage Tax Return for the quarter ending June 30 was also extended.

Revenue District Offices (RDOs) covered by the extensions include those in Region 3 (Tarlac City, Paniqui, Olongapo City, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Balanga City in Bataan, Angeles City, San Fernando City, Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone, Baler in Aurora, Talavera in Nueva Ecija, Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, West and East Bulacan).

Also covered by the extension are RDOs in the National Capital Region, and Region IV-A (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), as well as RDOs in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Vigan City, San Fernando in La Union, Calasiao, Alaminos, and Urdaneta City in Pangasinan, Bangued in Abra, Baguio City, La Trinidad in Benguet, and Bontoc in Mountain Province.

"In this time of need and disaster, the BIR will extend the deadlines of submission, filing, and or payment of specific dues that coincide with Super Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon," Lumagui said.

"Excellent taxpayer service not only means the improvement of our services but also that of adjusting to the realities faced by taxpayers in real-time. Please take care of your families and loved ones, we will move the deadline to July 31." (PNA)
