MANILA – The House of Representatives expects to receive Monday Malacañang’s proposed PHP6.352-trillion national budget for 2025.

In a news release, Speaker Martin Romualdez said Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman will formally turn over the proposed outlay and other related documents at 10 a.m. Monday.

Romualdez vowed to convene the House Committee on Appropriations immediately to deliberate on the proposal and approve it before the first recess of Congress in October.

"We will make sure that enough funds will be allocated for social services and for programs that will sustain our economic growth,” he said.

He also assured that each proposed allocation would be scrutinized exhaustively to ensure that agencies are spending the budget judiciously.

The proposed budget for 2025 is about PHP585 billion more than this year’s PHP5.768 trillion outlay.

As of May 31, the Department of Budget and Management has already released PHP5.114 trillion or 88.7 percent of the 2024 national budget.

Of the total, government agencies received PHP3.417 trillion for the implementation of their banner programs and projects.

“For FY (fiscal year) 2025, we will continue to advance our agenda for prosperity,” Pangandaman said during a recent economic forum with journalists.

“For the first two years of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., we successfully laid the groundwork for a future-proof and sustainable economic development where no Filipino is left behind. This time, we will build on our gains and strive to fulfill not only the needs, but also the aspirations of the Filipino people we have sworn to serve.” (PNA)
