CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Bureau of Fire Protection in Northern Mindanao (BFP-10) said Tuesday it received PHP8 billion in capital expenditures from the national budget.

During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas media briefing here, C/Supt. Alma Abacahin said PHP4 billion from the budget is intended for modernization efforts, such as purchasing additional fire trucks.

"As of now, we have been given 24 additional fire trucks, totaling 151 (in the region). Then we have nine ambulances and one service (vehicle)," Abacahin said.

Abacahin added that PHP60 million have been allocated for the construction of fire stations in five municipalities in Lanao del Norte province and one in Camiguin province.

Another project undertaken by BFP-10 is the "Eye in the Sky" project, with its initial phase costing PHP8 million.

The project involves the construction of a multipurpose facility with a helipad within a 600-hectare government property in Maigo, Lanao del Norte. (PNA)
