PNP anti-drug unit seizes P48-M narcotics in July

MANILA – Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) confiscated illegal drugs worth more than PHP48.4 million in July.

In a statement Thursday, PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said the narcotics were seized in 54 intelligence-driven operations, comprising 27 buy-bust operations, four search warrant operations, one operation that resulted in the surrender of illegal drugs, two marijuana eradication operations, one interception operation, and 19 service of warrant of arrest operations, which resulted in the arrest of 61 drug personalities involved in these illegal activities.

These illegal drugs consisted of 5.3 kg. of shabu, 232 pieces of ecstasy tablets, 640 grams of ketamine, 813 grams of high-grade marijuana, 170 grams of liquid laughing gas ampules, 40 grams of marijuana oil, 3 pieces of marijuana cookies, 5 grams of Khalifa Karts, 33 pieces of e-cigars with liquid marijuana, 33,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants, 818.60 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and 2 grams of sativa hybrid.

Matta commended PDEG officers for their unwavering dedication and exceptional performance in combating drug-related crimes.

"Their collaborative actions have disrupted illicit drug activities, apprehended offenders, and contributed to creating a safer, drug-free community. This success underscores our unshakable commitment to upholding our mandate," he said.

Matta added that the PDEG's crackdown has helped control the proliferation of illegal drugs, ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens.

On Wednesday, PDEG and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents intercepted a parcel containing an estimated PHP7.1 million worth of illegal drugs in an interception operation along the Central Mail Exchange Domestic Road in Pasay City.

Matta said the shipment arrived from California, the US and was consigned to a person based in Cebu City.

Authorities discovered 96 boxes of vape cartridges containing marijuana oil worth PHP5,760; 468 grams of kush worth PHP655,200, and nearly 1 kg. of shabu worth PHP6.5 million.

The recovered evidence was brought to the PDEA headquarters Quezon City for proper documentation and disposition. (PNA)
