BACOLOD CITY – The National University (NU) is opening its first campus in Visayas and Mindanao in this city for the academic year 2024-2025 starting Aug. 5.

In a statement on Friday, Dr. Renato Carlos Ermita Jr., president and chief executive officer of NU Philippines, cited the opening of the Bacolod campus as among the school’s milestones as NU marked its 124th founding anniversary on Aug. 1.

“NU is committed to education that works and its role in nation-building with its plans to expand in Visayas and Mindanao,” he added.

Starting this school year, the campus here, located beside SM City Bacolod, will welcome the pioneer batches in senior high school and college courses in accountancy, computer science, psychology, and tourism management.

Ryan Joy Dizon, NU Bacolod executive and academic director, said they are giving students and parents here an option for accessible education to reach at least a thousand enrollees in the first year of operation.

“We see Bacolod as having promising prospects. With the research and the market study that we did, opening a campus here is very viable, very promising,” she said in an interview.

Each NU nationwide, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for various academic disciplines, offers various scholarship programs for qualified students. (PNA)
