CEBU CITY – Nine governors in the Visayas signed a manifesto of unity expressing their support to the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his brand of governance, Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines), at the opening of Cebu province’s 455th founding anniversary celebrations on Monday.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who led the signing at the provincial capitol, underscored the need for unity toward progress and development.

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos witnessed the signing ceremony.

“Now more than ever, let our voices (be heard in) the entire Philippines as leaders, as chief executives, who understand the burdens that we must take, multiplied a thousand times for the president himself,” Garcia said in her speech. “If we need to move forward, and we must move forward, we can only do this with a united country.”

She said the governors should lead to rally all political leaders “for and in support of the man we chose to lead us.”

Along with other provinces in the Visayas, Garcia assured the administration that Cebu stands firmly behind Marcos' leadership.

Among those who signed the manifesto were Governors Ben Evardone of Eastern Samar, Erico Aristotle Aumentado of Bohol, Jake Vincent Villa of Siquijor, Eugenio Jose Lacson, Jose Enrique Miraflores, Damian Mercado of Southern Leyte, Joaquin Carlos Rahman Araño Nava and Arthur Defensor Jr. of Iloilo.
