MANILA – Two Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officials received commendations on Monday for contributions to advancing health initiatives and securing persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

Chief Supt. Ma. Cecilia V. Villanueva, director of the Directorate for Health and Welfare Services, and Chief Insp. Eduardo P. Gogorza, acting director of the Directorate for Security and Operations were awarded letters of commendation signed by BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. for their exemplary leadership and topnotch public service.

The Bucor said VIllanueva’s contributions have been pivotal in advancing health initiatives within correctional facilities, ensuring that Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) receive proper medical care and support.

Meanwhile, Gogorza’s leadership in the overall security operations of BuCor has significantly improved safety protocols, contributing to a more secure environment for personnel and PDLs alike.

In a statement, the BuCor said the commendations serve as a recognition of their achievements and an inspiration for Bureau personnel to strive for excellence in their respective roles.

“The Bureau continues to emphasize the importance of strong leadership and dedicated service in its mandate to reform and rehabilitate those under its care,” it said. (PNA)
