MANILA – The Visayas and a huge part of Luzon will continue to experience rains due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms will continue to prevail over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

The habagat will also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the Visayas, Bicol Region, the rest of Mimaropa, and the rest of Calabarzon.

Moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms in areas affected by habagat could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas continue to prevail across the archipelago.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) that PAGASA has been monitoring was last tracked 835 km. east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

"It is still far from landmass and has no direct effect on any part of the country," PAGASA forecaster Rhea Torres said.

Torres said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. (PNA)
