MANILA – The weather bureau said on Tuesday the southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to bring rain showers across Luzon and Western Visayas.

Ilocos Region, Zambales, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will get scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. advisory.

Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are likely in Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region.

The rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail across the archipelago.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is monitoring Tropical Storm Ampil, last tracked 1,570 km. east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

PAGASA forecaster Rhea Torres said Ampil is far from landmass and is not expected to affect any part of the country in the next few days.

The cyclone is also slowly moving away northeastward, Torres said. (PNA)
