Negros Oriental anti-drug ops Jan-July yield over P31-M shabu

DUMAGUETE CITY – The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) confiscated more than PHP31 million worth of illegal drugs from January to July this year, an official said Monday.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, NOPPO spokesperson, told the Philippine News Agency that the confiscated prohibited substances included over 4,640 grams of shabu valued at roughly PHP 31.5 million and some 248 grams of suspected marijuana with a street price of PHP29,800.

“Majority of the seized illegal drugs were during the conduct of the monthly SACLEO (Simultaneous Anti-Criminal Law Enforcement Operations) by the different police stations,” Polinar said.

In the same period, a total of 332 anti-illegal drug operations resulted in the arrest of 348 suspected drug suspects, the provincial police accomplishment report showed.

Meanwhile, NOPPO conducted 553 anti-illegal gambling operations that led to the arrest of 1,206 persons.

The police also arrested 1,141 wanted persons for various crimes.

The campaign on loose firearms resulted in 748 operations with 38 persons arrested and 1,053 firearms seized, recovered or surrendered. (PNA)
