MANILA – Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) renewed partnership on Tuesday, bringing a year-long campaigns and promotions to boost travel to Singapore.

"PAL has been our partner for over 10 years now. The airline has a rich history. it is the national carrier. It makes sense for us to partner with them," STB Executive Director for Southeast Asia Terrence Voon told the Philippine News Agency.

He said this year's partnership targets to entice more repeat travelers and would also focus on off peak season.

There will be bundles and promos for experiences and accommodations, Voon said.

"We want to tell the story and experiences that Singapore has to offer," he said, adding that they are also targeting the young and families as markets.

For PAL president Stanley Ng, Singapore has a dynamic culture that inspired Filipinos to travel.

"We look forward to working together to create more opportunities for more Filipinos to experience how Singapore continues to be a world-class leisure destination," Ng said.

PAL flies four times daily to Singapore.

According to the STB, the Philippines ranked as Singapore's sixth largest market with almost 700,000 visitors, which is 84 percent of the 2019 pre-pandemic figure.

The STB earlier said Singapore had 830,000 tourists pre-pandemic, while international arrivals in Singapore were 330,000 in 2021.

Singapore has so far welcomed close to 390,000 Filipinos as of June 2024, according to the STB.

During the partnership signing, STB chief executive Melissa Ow said PAL has been instrumental in reinforcing Singapore's position as a vibrant lifestyle destination.

The STB, she said, is excited to welcome more Filipinos to Singapore soon. (PNA)
