SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – Fire razed the old public market here, destroying properties valued at PHP24 million, at about 5 a.m. on Thursday.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - San Carlos City fire officer Stephanie Villocero, in an interview, said 420 stalls were burned during the almost four-hour fire that was reported to them at about 5:20 a.m.

“It reached fourth alarm before it was declared fire out at around 9 a.m.,” she said.

Villocero said there were no casualties or reported injuries.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” she said.

Mayor Jullier Resuello, in an online interview, said they would meet to determine the aid the local government could extend to the affected stall owners.

Resuello, meanwhile, thanked those who responded to the fire, including non-government firefighters brigade and volunteers. (PNA)
