ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) turned over over PHP16.9 million worth of equipment and assets to various units in the region in a ceremony at the regional headquarters here on Thursday.

PRO6 regional director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, who just arrived from a three-day agency summit on Bagong Pilipinas in Manila, said enhancing the capability of local police is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s campaign to propel change and progress in the country.

“We know that these efforts are really aligned with it, the provision of equipage, training, and the continuous enhancement of our capability,” Wanky said in his message.

He reminded recipients that the equipment and assets should help make the jobs of the police easier and enhance the delivery of services.

“The bottom line here is we must always remember, these are given to us from the taxes of the people. We are expected to give them back the correct services,” he added.

The equipment and assets procured by the Philippine National Police headquarters included five patrol jeeps, 33 light motorcycles, two vans, three heavy motorcycles, 203 pieces of tires, and 5,000 pieces of drug kits.

The Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) received 22 spy cameras, 16 desktop computers, 13 units of laptops, five units of Wi-Fi, four night vision goggles, three solar panels, cameras, and a multimedia projector.

APPO received most of the equipment and assets valued at PHP5.3 million funded under the Congress Initiated Changes/Adjustments (CICA) Fund in 2023.

APPO Director Col. Lea Rose Peña, in an interview, said their previous director Col. Alexander Mariano initiated the funding of around PHP48 million under CICA, including those they received on Thursday.

Other equipment and assets were distributed to various city and provincial police offices in the region. (PNA)
