MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos and his family celebrated the 65th birthday celebration of First Lady Liza Marcos in Baguio City.

In an interview after an event at Malacañan Palace in Manila on Thursday, Marcos said the First Lady opted for a simple birthday celebration with her family.

“Si First Lady ‘pag birthday niya, nagtatago lagi. Gusto niya tahimik na tahimik lang. Kaya ‘yung party niya was last Thursday pa (The First Lady always hides when it’s her birthday. She wants to celebrate it quietly. She had a party last Thursday),” he said when asked how the First Lady celebrated.

“I came from Baguio. We stayed in Baguio for her birthday. Very quiet, family lang (it’s just us, our family),” he added.

Marcos on Wednesday greeted the First Lady on her 65th birthday and thanked her for everything she has done for him and their children.

On Thursday, the First Lady shared a photo of her and the President, with a birthday cake given to her by the Philippine Coast Guard.

The First Lady was born on Aug. 21, 1959 in Manila to Manuel Araneta Jr. and Milagros Cacho.

She first met Marcos in New York while studying and working as a lawyer in 1988. The two got married at the San Francesco Convent in Fiesole, Italy on April 17, 1993.

The First Couple has three sons – Ilocos Norte First District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander, Joseph Simon, and William Vincent. (PNA)
