ILOILO CITY – About 2,000 regular employees and officials of the city government are expected to receive their salary adjustment soon after the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) approved the PHP411.35 million Supplemental Budget (SB) 2 on Wednesday.

The SB 2 consists of more than PHP403.09 million general fund and more than PHP8.26 million budget of the Local Enterprise Economic Office for Personnel Service (PS), Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses, and capital outlay.

More or less PHP19 million of the PS allocation will cover the salary adjustment of permanent employees.

“This year will be the implementation of the first tranche on the basis of the issuance of the DBM (Department of Budget and Management) local budget circular 150. Its 4 percent increase across the board for all permanent employees of the city government,” City Budget officer Viminale Capulso said in an interview.

Capulso said there was a verbal appeal for the salary adjustment to be retroactive starting January, but the DBM explained that the Local Government Code states that local government units are not entitled to retroactive effect.

With this, the first tranche of the adjustment will be reflected beginning Aug. 2, 2024 until Aug. 1, 2025. (PNA)
