MANILA – Bahrain is expected to formally open its embassy in the Philippines by the end of 2024, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

In a statement dated Aug. 27, the DFA said the Bahrain Foreign Ministry is preparing for the inauguration of the new foreign service post in the country following initial talks in 2023.

Bahrain Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Isa Nasser Al Noaimi visited Manila last Aug. 21 to oversee the progress of the embassy's establishment and met with Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Administration Antonio Morales.

During their meeting, Morales reaffirmed the Philippines and Bahrain’s “enduring and robust relationship”.

“The establishment of an embassy in Manila is expected to serve as a catalyst for expanding bilateral cooperation in many areas of mutual interest. Both officials expressed optimism about the positive impact this new diplomatic presence will have on strengthening ties between the two countries,” the DFA said.

Currently, the Bahrain Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand has concurrent jurisdiction over the Philippines. (PNA)
