Gov't aid for storm-hit families top P224-M

MANILA – The government has so far extended some PHP224.5 million worth of assistance to those affected by Severe Tropical Storm Enteng and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).

In its latest situation update Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said this amount of assistance was provided to some 222,392 families out of 416,804 in 10 regions.

A total of 741,035 families or 2,787,690 individuals in 2,545 villages in 10 regions have so far been affected by these weather disturbances, the NDRRMC said.

Of these numbers, 7,508 families or 28,904 individuals are being aided in 365 evacuation centers and 18,791 families or 50,017 persons are being aided outside.

The number of reported deaths, all undergoing validation, has been placed at 20 – 11 in Calabarzon, four in Bicol region, two in Central Visayas, one in Eastern Visayas and another two in Eastern Visayas. (PNA)
