TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), as of Monday, has already distributed 45,333 family food packs (FFPs) to families affected by Typhoon “Enteng” in three Samar provinces.
The DSWD regional official said the distributed food packs were just initial since the flooding in Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran provinces displaced 55,940 families living in 322 villages.
“There is ongoing coordination and monitoring of the quick response team of DSWD to immediately deliver help if needed,” said DSWD Eastern Visayas regional information officer Jonalyndie Chua in a phone interview.
Of the total FFPs distributed, 33,799 were received by families in Northern Samar, 8,015 in Samar, and 3,519 in Eastern Samar. The total cost, including the 468 non-food items, is PHP28.65 million.
A box of FFP is enough to feed a family with two to three members for two to three days.
Each pack, costing PHP500, contains six kilograms of rice, four cans of corned beef, two cans of tuna flakes, two cans of sardines, five sachets of coffee, and five sachets of energy drink.
As of Sept. 8, some PHP120.12 million worth of relief items are available for storm victims in Eastern Visayas. (PNA)
