MANILA – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Makati City Tuesday to empower small businesses in remote areas through digitalization.

During the MOU signing, DTI Acting Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque submitted a list of priority areas to Converge chief executive officer and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy that need to be connected to fiber broadband and technology services of the firm.

She said these priority areas are those with Negosyo Centers and remote and far-flung places.

“The DTI recognizes the critical role of digitalization in MSMEs (micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises) development—it is the heart of our five-point agenda.

And we are dedicated to providing MSMEs with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in the digital age. Our partnership with Converge is a step closer to that goal,” Roque said.

She said the partnership with Converge would also ensure that MSMEs would have essential tools and technology to enable them to compete locally and globally.

“Our battlecry at Converge is, to leave no one behind,” Uy said.

“(O)ur aim really to elevate the competitiveness of the MSME. We want to give them a fighting chance to reach not just nationwide audience but global audience,” he added.

Uy said Converge’s investments across the country also follow the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to prioritize establishing connectivity in remote and isolated islands in the country. (PNA)
