Week-long op nets over P12-M illegal drugs in W. Visayas

ILOILO CITY – A week-long anti-drug operation conducted by various units of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) yielded 1,789 grams of shabu and two grams of marijuana, with a total value of over PHP12 million.

The regionwide campaign also resulted in the arrest of 114 suspects in 84 police operations from Sept. 9-15, 2024, the PRO6 said in a statement on Tuesday.

Police records showed that one of the biggest hauls was in Barangay San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City on Sept. 10, where about PHP1.02 million worth of shabu was seized.

The operation by the Bacolod City Police Office in Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod City on Sept. 12 netted around PHP918,000 worth of drugs, while some PHP856,800 worth of shabu was confiscated in an operation launched by the Capiz Police Provincial Office Drug Enforcement Unit at Barangay Loctugan, Roxas, City on Sept. 13.

The PRO6 said the recent successes has brought the total value of illegal drugs seized in the first two weeks of the month to around PHP25 million.

From Sept. 1 to 7, some 1,957 grams of shabu and eight grams of marijuana valued at PHP13 million were seized and 62 suspects were arrested, it said.

"These accomplishments are a clear reflection of your commitment to your sworn duties. I encourage everyone, both the police and the community, to keep pushing forward and tighten our partnership to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs," PRO6 regional director Brig. Gen.
