BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) distributed around 600 family food packs (FFPs) to families in three coastal barangays of Dinagat town, Dinagat Islands province, affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon brought by Tropical Storm Bebinca.

In a statement Thursday, DSWD-13 said the relief operation, on Wednesday, was done in coordination with the local government of Dinagat and other agencies.

Some 160 FFPs were distributed in Barangay Cabayawan, 150 in Barangay Gomez, and 290 in Barangay Cab-ilan.

Around 42 stranded persons in the province got FFPs after sea travel was temporarily suspended due to bad weather. These individuals, from Loreto town, have been stuck in Basilisa since Tuesday.

"The DSWD-13 continues to coordinate with provincial and municipal disaster risk reduction offices to ensure the timely delivery of aid to affected communities," the agency said. (PNA)
