ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested three drug suspects and seized some PHP20.4 million worth of shabu in an anti-drug operation here on Saturday.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-9 (RDEU-9) said the three male suspects are from Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, aged 34; and two from Pata, Sulu aged 22 and 36.

The suspects were arrested at 1:30 p.m. at Sitio San Ramon, Barangay Taliyasan, according to Col. Romeo Espero Jr., Deputy Director for Operations of Police Regional Office-9.

The three kilos of shabu were packed in a plastic bag at one kilo each.

Espero said their arrest came after RDEU-9 nabbed three individuals, including a police officer and a member of the Philippine Coast Guard , in Barangay Boalan on Sept. 18 and seized PHP13.6 million worth of shabu.

Both operations were backed by the Zamboanga City Police Station 9 and the Naval Intelligence Security Group-Western Mindanao.

Drug charges are now being readied against the suspects. (PNA)
