MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Ilocos Region residents whose houses were destroyed partially or totally by natural or man-made disasters can avail of financial assistance from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

The aid is under the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP), DHSUD public housing and settlements division chief Claudine Valdez said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas virtual forum here hosted by the Philippine Information Agency-Ilocos Region on Tuesday.

She said home owners with partially damaged houses can obtain PHP10,000 in cash while those who have totally damaged houses will be given PHP30,000.

Considered natural hazards are typhoons, floods, landslides, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Man-made disasters include fire, explosions, industrial accidents and armed conflict.

Valdez said the requirements for applying for the financial assistance are local government unit (LGU) report, master list of beneficiaries, eligibility sheet or certification from the LGU stating that the applicant is qualified and have not yet received shelter assistance from any government agencies, location and photo of the damaged house, and transmittal letter of the local chief executive.

“This is an immediate assistance after they have experienced calamity and once they have complied with the requirements,” she said.

Valdez said applications of 20 residents from Ilocos Sur, whose houses were partially damaged, have been approved by DHSUD central office.

Thirty-one residents whose houses were partially damaged and two with totally damaged houses in Ilocos Sur are awaiting approval.

The residents' houses were destroyed by Typhoon Carina late July. (PNA)
