MANILA – Education Secretary Sonny Angara on Wednesday thanked lawmakers at the House of Representatives for their swift approval of the budget for the Department of Education (DepEd) for Fiscal Year 2025.

“We sincerely thank Speaker (Martin) Romualdez, Rep. (Maria Carmen) Zamora, and the entire House of Representatives for their dedication to uplifting our education system. This budget reflects our shared commitment to unlocking the full potential of every Filipino learner,” Angara said in a statement.

The DepEd’s proposed 2025 budget is PHP793.17 billion.

The proposed budget includes major allocations for elementary and secondary school operations, government assistance and subsidies, teachers’ recruitment and training, construction of classrooms and facilities, procurement of textbooks and instructional materials, DepEd computerization program, and feeding programs.

Angara said the programs for the upcoming year align with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve the welfare of teachers and ensure quality education for learners in the country.

Besides DepEd programs, the proposed budget also includes fund allocation for DepEd attached agencies, including the National Book Development Board, National Council for Children’s Television, National Museum, Philippine High School for the Arts, Early Childhood Care and Development Council, and the National Academy of Sports.
