CEBU CITY – A total of 33 colleges and universities in the United States of America are set to join in an education fair here aimed to entice Cebuanos to study abroad, the U.S. Embassy said on Wednesday.

According to the US Embassy, students and parents are welcome to attend the 5th EducationUSA University Fair in Cebu City on Oct. 8 at the Radisson Blu Hotel to learn more about the opportunities to study in the US.

This year’s education fair organized by the American Embassy will be the largest ever organized in Cebu in recent years, with 36 participating colleges and universities.

In a statement, US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson expressed excitement “to bring together so many universities in one place.”

“I encourage you to choose the United States as your destination for higher education abroad. We have thousands of academic programs, world-class institutions, and unmatched flexibility. The United States offers a wealth of higher-education opportunities that you will not find anywhere else in the world,” Carlson said.

Admission to the EducationUSA University Fair is free and open to all students, parents, and educators.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register online via educationusa.ph/Fair2024.

At the fair, representatives of participating US higher education institutions will provide information on admissions procedures, academic programs, student life, and scholarship opportunities.

U.S. Embassy consular officers will also offer guidance on the student visa application process.

EducationUSA is a US Department of State network of over 430 international student advising centers in more than 175 countries and territories.

The network promotes US higher education to students around the world by offering free, accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about opportunities to study at accredited higher education institutions in the United States. (PNA)
