7 ranking cops get new posts in latest PNP revamp

MANILA – Seven ranking officials got new assignments in the latest reshuffle in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In an order dated Oct. 7, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil designated Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco as director of Civil Security Group (CSG), replacing Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo who was earlier named as the PNP's fourth top official or acting Chief of the Directorial Staff.

The CSG is the PNP's office in charge of administrative and operational control in the regulation of firearms, explosives and private security industries.

Meanwhile, Directorate for Intelligence (DI) chief Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. was designated as acting chief Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) while Highway Patrol Group (HPG) director Brig. Gen. Jay Cumigad will be the acting director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 (Eastern Visayas).

Cumigad replaces Brig. Gen. Reynaldo Pawid, who was named as PNP Deputy Director for Operations.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz, from the DI, was named the acting director of the PRO Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR). He will replace Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, who was designated as acting chief of the Area Police Command in Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, Col. Frankie Candelario was named the acting director of the force's Intelligence Group.

The revamp will take effect Wednesday. (PNA)
