MANILA – Eight members of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) elite Force Reconnaissance Group (FRG) have successfully participated in this year's iteration of the United Kingdom's Exercise Cambrian Patrol.

“The success of our Marines in this exercise serves as a testament to their dedication, resilience, and the rigorous training they undergo. The Philippine Marine Corps remains steadfast in its mission to protect the sovereignty of our nation and contribute to global security efforts,” PMC Commandant Maj. Gen. Arturo Rojas said in a statement late Wednesday.

The PMC contingent navigated the challenging terrain of the Cambrian Mountains for more than 48 hours while accomplishing complex military tasks. They were also tested in various aspects of soldiering, including navigation, fieldcraft, marksmanship, casualty evacuation, and military knowledge.

This year's Exercise Cambrian Patrol took place at the Black Mountains and Sennybridge Training Area, Wales, the UK from Oct. 4 to 6.

The exercise, considered one of the most grueling in the world, was joined by elite troops from across the world.

"This year’s Exercise Cambrian Patrol brought together top military units from across the globe, with a shared goal of improving collaboration and operational capability in challenging environments," Navy spokesperson Commander John Percie Alcos said.

Exercise Cambrian Patrol is considered a benchmark for infantry soldiers, with its extreme tests pushing participants to their limits.

"The remarkable performance of the FRG team underscores the PMC’s growing capability to excel in demanding international military environments and reflects the high level of training and professionalism instilled in the force," he added.

Alcos said the PN remains committed to honing the skills of its personnel through participation in international exercises to ensure that its sailors and marines are prepared to face the evolving challenges of modern warfare. (PNA)
