MANILA – Authorities swooped down on a suspected Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) facility in Cebu province and apprehended 38 undocumented foreigners believed to be Chinese nationals.

In a statement Thursday, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 (Central Visayas) chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the operation, carried out in an isolated resort villa in Barangay Saavedra in Moalboal town on Wednesday, also resulted in the confiscation of numerous computers and gadgets.

The operation was initiated by a composite team from the municipal government, the local police, and the local Bureau of Fire Protection.

Citing initial reports, Aberin said the foreigners have been exclusively renting the place since Sept. 28 this year "under highly suspicious circumstances."

Reports on the suspicious activities of these foreigners prompted authorities to visit and inspect the facility.

“PRO-7’s strong stance against POGO, POGO-like activities, and all illegal activities will continue and will remain unwavering. With the help of the LGUs, other agencies, and the community, let us make Central Visayas free from this type of menace, which destroys families and our country,” Aberin said. (PNA)
