MANILA -- Green Archers United is now the only team at the top of the WFL Elite League standings after a 2-0 win against Ateneo in Matchday 2 of the season at the La Salle Zobel Football Field in Muntinlupa on Sunday night.

Coupled by a 2-2 draw between Army and Fleet Marine in Taguig, GAU is now number one in the standings solely because of points earned, getting all of the six possible points after two matches.

Joel Okono fired a brace for GAU, which William Ebanda highlighted yet another clean sheet with a penalty save against William Grierson.

Over at the ASCOM Football Field in Taguig City, despite the 2-2 stalemate that kept the AFP sides tied for second, Fleet Marine holds the tiebreaker owing to its 5-1 Matchday 1 win at Stallion Laguna B.

Meanwhile in Imus, Cavite, Adamson bounced back from its ugly opening night defeat at GAU with a 4-0 whipping of Laguna B.

Gerard Etis opened the scoring for the Soaring Falcons in the 24th minute, while Allen Lozano sparked their second half barrage with a 66th minute strike.

Bless Jumo II capped the rout with a brace. (PNA)
