MANILA – The UAAP Board of Managing Directors (BMD) has drafted the possible sanctions that will be meted to the UST Growling Tigers for holding an alleged training bubble in Capuy, Sorsogon amid the pandemic.

The penalties have been agreed upon "following a lengthy discussion" that took place during the board's meeting on Thursday.

However, the BMD opted not to disclose what these punishments are.

"The UAAP understands the gravity of the matter as it concerns the safety and well-being of student-athletes of a member-school. Out of respect to the member-school concerned and the decision-making process of the BOT (Board of Trustees), recommendations of the BMD cannot be made public at the moment," the board said.

The group also clarified that the sanctions are mere recommendations and that the BOT has the final say on the matter.

The UAAP BOT, consisting of the presidents of the eight member-schools, is expected to meet very soon to deliberate on the said recommendations for the final approval.

Defined as an amateur, the Growling Tigers are not allowed to practice amid the pandemic, making the alleged bubble a violation of quarantine protocols. (PNA)
