COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents arrested two alleged big-time drug peddlers and seized P3.4 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion 8 here, an official said Friday.
Agent Jocelyn Mary, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) spokesperson, identified the suspects as Solaiman Mohammad, 52, and Bayan Mohammad Akmad, 35, both residents of this city.
PDEA agents arrested the duo after they allegedly handed over the illegal stuff to an undercover agent during a buy-bust operation at 3 p.m. Thursday along the Kakar diversion road in the village.
“We have been trailing these guys for the past few months, they have been on our radar until they were arrested,” Mary said, adding the two belonged to a drug syndicate operating in the region.
PDEA agents seized some 500 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP3.4 million, shabu paraphernalia, mobile phones and the marked money used in the transaction.
The suspects, currently locked up at the PDEA detention cell here, are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Since January, about PHP10 million worth of illegal drugs have been confiscated by PDEA-BARMM from various anti-drug operations. (PNA)
