ZAMBOANGA CITY – Cops have arrested here the bomb threat caller that disrupted the City Hall operations Wednesday.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said the suspect, Concepcion Francisco, a staff of a printing shop, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by operatives of the ZCPO Station 11.

“The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation,” Lorenzo said in an interview Thursday.

Maj. Albert Alfaro, ZCPO Station 11 chief, said Francisco, 30, was arrested after the police managed to trace the telephone number the suspect had used in making the threat.

It turned out that the phone number belongs to a printing shop in Barangay Tugbungan where Francisco works.

The first bomb threat call was made at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday to the hotline number of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office at the Pettit barracks.

All the employees were ordered to vacate their offices after another bomb threat was made through a phone call to the City Legal Office located at the main city hall building around 8:48 a.m.

A few minutes later, another call was made to the Office of the City Mayor.

However, Francisco strongly denied that she made the bomb threat calls.

In a radio interview, Francisco said she was at the time in the downtown area on the way to make transactions at the City Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said it has already filed a case for violation of Presidential Decree (P.D.) 1727 against the suspect.

P.D. 1727 declares as unlawful the malicious dissemination of false information or the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives, or any similar device or means of destruction and imposing penalties therefor. (PNA)
