EcoOil-La Salle stays as D-League champ

MANILA – EcoOil-La Salle successfully defended its PBA D-League Aspirants Cup title after sweeping the best-of-three finals against Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda through an 89-74 Game 2 win on Monday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Green Archers pulled away in the third quarter after outscoring the Red Lions, 27-16, after the latter kept the game close at halftime.

Kevin Quiambao showed that he deserves to be named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as he led EcoOil-La Salle with 26 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Evan Nelle added 16 points, five rebounds, seven assists, six assists and one block, while Mike Phillips put up 12 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals.

Yukien Andrada led San Beda with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. (PNA)
