MANILA – The Ateneo de Manila University ruled the Pinoyliga Cup after edging fellow University Athletic Association of the Philippines member National University (NU), 65-63, in the finals held at the Villar Coliseum in Las Piñas City on Thursday.

Jared Brown hit a crucial three-pointer that put the Blue Eagles up for good before banking on their defense to keep the Bulldogs from going back up.

Jolo Manansala had one last try to save NU but he missed the running triple as time ran out on them.

Kai Ballungay, named the game’s Most Valuable Player, led Ateneo with nine points, four rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block.

Geo Chiu and Mason Amos each added eight markers.

Mohamed Diasana led NU with 12 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and one steal. (PNA)
