PIGCAWAYAN, North Cotabato – The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) has turned over Thursday a PHP5 million community activity center in Barangay Buricain here.
In a statement Friday, MILG-BARMM Minister Naguib Sinarimbo said Barangay Buricain is one of 11 other barangays in this town that is now under BARMM’s Special Geographic Area (SGA) in North Cotabato.
At least 63 villages in six towns of North Cotabato have opted for inclusion in the BARMM during a two-part plebiscite in 2019.
Sinarimbo and SGA Administrator Butch Malang led the inauguration ceremonies witnessed by local security forces from the military, police and village officials, among others.
Barangay Buricain chairperson Badrudin Awil, together with SGA Federation President Johan P. Sinarimbo, formally accepted the community activity center.
Republic Act 11054 or the BARMM Organic Law requires the regional government to establish a special development fund for conflict-affected communities, including the implementation of programs, projects, and activities under the Bangsamoro Integrated Rehabilitation and Development program. (PNA)
