DAGUPAN CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pangasinan provincial office has launched an Intellectual Property helpline desk to assist in the registration and protection of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.

In an interview on Friday, DTI Pangasinan provincial director Natalia Dalaten said the help desk will enable the MSMEs to register their product's trademark and tradename.

"Pinoprotektahan ang mga gawa at invention ng mga iba't ibang MSMEs. Kailangan 'di lang irehistro ang business name kundi pati trademark at tradename para hindi magaya ng iba (We are protecting the products and inventions of the different MSMEs. They should not only register the business name but also the trademark and tradename so it would not be copied or used by others)," she said.

She said the helpline desk officer will accept and assist in the application for registration and other intellectual property concerns of the MSMEs.

“Application forms are available at our office in Dagupan City during office hours. Those who wanted to apply for tradename or trademark must bring with them the filled-out forms and the sample logos printed and in soft copy among others," she said.

Dalaten said the helpline desk's schedule will be posted regularly at the DTI Pangasinan’s official Facebook page.

She added that the establishment of helpline desk in the province also aims to identify the geographical indication of all the products uniquely produced or processed in Pangasinan. (PNA)
