DAVAO CITY – The Social Security System (SSS) has issued notices to 22 delinquent establishments in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, as part of its “Run After Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign.

In a statement on Monday, SSS Tagum City acting branch head Imelda Guerra said their July 13-14 RACE campaign led to the visitation of 22 companies that have not paid their monthly obligations for a long time.

The SSS Tagum City branch covers the provinces of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.

The businesses of the delinquent employers included electrical supply, hardware, agricultural supply, restaurant, budget hotel, spas, and private schools, Guerra said.

She added that about 60 percent of the 5,541 active establishments or about 3,341 are delinquent in their SSS contribution while 235 of them have pending cases.

“As of July 14, the computed running total collectibles, demandable from these delinquent employers is more than PHP21 million,’ she said.

During the RACE enforcement, notices were given to delinquent employers due to their failure to pay their monthly contributions to their employees. They were also given 15 days to pay their obligations.

"If they will not pay for it we will endorse it to our legal department for filing of lawsuits," she said.

The RACE implementation aims to remind and instill awareness in employers that they have statutory obligations to the SSS on behalf of their employees. (PNA)
