CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Northern Mindanao (DSWD-10) will allocate more than PHP12.1 million for affected micro and small rice traders under Executive Order (EO) 39.
In an interview on Friday, DSWD-10 information officer-in-charge Oliver Inodeo said PHP15,000 each will be distributed to 811 traders under the Sustainable Livelihood Program.
"The DTI (Department of Trade and Industry-10) forwarded 323 verified beneficiaries on Sept. 20. Today (Sept. 22), they forwarded an additional 488," he said.
Thirty-nine beneficiaries already received their aid last week.
The deadline for DTI to submit a list of micro rice retailers and "sari-sari" or neighborhood sundry stores to DSWD is on Friday.
Inodeo said all additional lists beyond the deadline will no longer be entertained and considered by DSWD for payout.
Meanwhile, DTI-10 Information Officer Julie Nieva said its "Diskwento (Discount) Caravan" here will be extended next week and will sell well-milled and premium varieties of rice at lower prices.
The rice was initially sold for a week in front of the city hall for PHP43 per kilogram for well-milled rice (cheaper by PHP2 under EO 39) and PHP45 per kilogram for premium rice.
The venue will be moved from the city hall to Barangay Carmen's gymnasium.(PNA)
