SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte – This city is among the three urban centers in the Caraga Region recognized by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) of the Department of Finance in the Caraga Region (DOF-13) for implementing good standards and exceptional financial governance for the previous year.
“Surigao City has once again emerged as a shining example of exceptional financial governance for its remarkable achievements in revenue generation and assessment in 2022,” the Public Information Office (PIO) of Surigao City said in a statement Friday.
The award was conferred to Surigao City on Thursday in time with the year-end assessment and wellness program conducted by the BLGF-DOF-13 in Butuan City.
Last year, the Surigao PIO said the city collected PHP284.9 million in revenue generation, making it one of the highest achievers among the cities in the Caraga Region.
Two other cities in the region –Butuan and Bayugan– were also named by the BLGF-DOF-13 for the same achievement.
“Surigao City is honored to be recognized as the second-highest achiever in the fiscal year 2022 assessment, as it secured an impressive revenue collection last year. This achievement solidifies its status as a model of exceptional financial governance in the Caraga Region,” the PIO said.
It added the city's proactive approach and efficient financial management have played a pivotal role in its success.
The achievement, the PIO said, is also attributed to the effective strategic planning, taxation policies, and robust revenue collection mechanisms being implemented by the city government under the administration of Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao. (PNA)
